4 months old=delicious + irresistible + sleep regression
This is what i wrote in my journal on 3/3/07...
4 month old = delicious + irresistible + sleep regression. She sees everything now. Wants everything we drink, the Pellagrino bottle, coffee cups, you name it. She rolls back and forth all the time now. I kiss her neck and hold her cherubesque hands as much as I can. She loves to sit up and is getting much stronger. She started having a really hard time with sleep all of the sudden, both day & night, so I did a little research and found out there are tons of mothers out there going through the same thing. It's called "4 month sleep regression". Babies that were sleeping really well, go into a regress in their sleep patterns because they are so alert and active and want to be up playing and interacting with mom & dad and their toys instead of sleeping. Often they are so preoccupied, they forget to remind you they are hungry too. So after a few frustrating weeks, we started "sleep training" her last night, but I am still walking her in the stroller or byorn for naps. I go to the coffee shop while Matt does the "bedtime routine" which takes about a 1/2 hour and I came back when he texts me that she has stopped crying. It was so hard to leave last night, but Dr. Putter and Gillian told us it's the only way. She wasn't going to bed until midnight most nights! Hearing her cry made me feel like I wanted to puke. I told matt I would rather go through labor again, so we wouldn't have to make her so upset. ;(( The first night she cried from 8:30-9pm, then for 5 mins at 10pm and 5 mins at 1:30am, but slept until 8 am! 11 hours straight! My boobs felt like they were going to explode! She loves to smile at us and especially Dad. We were so afraid she wouldn't smile at us this morning after letting her cry last night. but she did! I am interviewing nannies to get a little break and maybe start freelancing 1-2 days a week. For this and more pics visit my Kodak Gallery album.
